The Osteria Francescana of Massimo Bottura is not the best restaurant of the world anymore. Not it is the Eleven Madison Park, rewarded by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017. The event was sponsored by Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino and every year rewards the best 50 locations of the planet; it took place in Melbourne, in particular at the Royal Exhibition Bulding.
What can we add to this? Nothing. This result was very predictable. Quality of the dishes is great both in Bottura’s location and in the restaurant of Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, the Eleven Madison Park that I have visited a few years ago, it is perfect. It has everything that the best restaurant of the world should have. Moreover it is in New York, which clearly is not Modena.
I think the chart of The World’s 50 Best Restaurant 2017 is the most balanced of the last five years. I am glad to know that Reale managed to enter the chart at 43rd place: it deserves that. I am also glad to know that many of the restaurants in the chart are not three-starred. Mirazur for example is a French restaurant with a breathtaking location on the Côte d’Azur only has two stars. This means that the Michelin Guide is important, but it is not everything.
What about you? What do you think about it? Do you agree with my opinions?
